Digitization

KOMSA launched its business in 1992, in the same year that D-networks were introduced for the digitized transmission of wireless telephone calls. So we have literally been leading the way in the digitization of telecommunications from the very outset. We are therefore delighted to see digitization acting as a major driver of probably the most radical change process that we've ever experienced and will continue to face in the coming years. Digitization is increasingly affecting every aspect of our everyday life: our lives, our working environment, our economy, our learning and our communication. The ict industry plays a crucial role in this and can have a major influence on the speed and impact of the digital (r)evolution.

From the very start, KOMSA has played an active role in shaping this development. We understand the ict market and support our partners with solutions and services to capitalize on the opportunities and trends of digitization.

HOME – OUR LIVES AND HOMES IN THE DIGITAL FUTURE

Do you still remember the incredible features that appeared so far removed from our own reality in the James Bond films and science-fiction scenes? Digitization is moving into our homes much faster than many believed possible. Digital home networks allow us to easily and conveniently network and control our household appliances, heating, lighting, computers, TVs and mobile devices. In the next few years, this will see the emergence of a huge market that is already inspiring many people under the Smart Home slogan.

WORK – REMOTE ACCESS

Today's young professionals are "digital natives" and therefore driving the digital transformation of the working environment. For them, the Internet represents normality; they are media-conscious and socially networked.

The business environment and working methods of companies and their employees are fundamentally changing. Today's employee is "mobile" and therefore requires access to corporate information at any time, wherever they are. Employers must respond to these conditions and meet these requirements in order to attract and retain talent. This also includes flexible working models. For employees of the digital age, the right work-life balance and the realization of their life-long dreams have replaced simply securing their livelihood.

LIFE – WEARABLE TECH

Have you ever tried living without your smartphone for 24 hours? Studies show that half of all Germans owned a smartphone in 2014. For many, the much-loved device is way more than a telephone and "surfing tool". Rather, it provides support in any situation, acts as a personal assistant, helps keep in touch with friends, is a camera, food diary and fitness coach.

A huge market is currently emerging for wearable technology, known as "wearables". Various versions of products such as smartwatches, fitness trackers, healthcare products, fitness headsets, action cams and smart glasses are therefore inspiring a growing number of customers in the form of gadgets, jewellery and accessories, and experiencing a real boom.
